Anoon Bondara was a Twi'lek Jedi Master of the Old Republic and was considered to be one of the best, lightsaber duelists in the Jedi Order. Just before the Battle of Naboo, Anoon spent his time split between working and training with his Padawan, Darsha Assant, and teaching lightsaber instruction to young Jedi learners in the Jedi Temple. Anoon was very proud of Darsha and deeply wished to see her graduate to the rank of Jedi Knight. Soon it was that time for Darsha to prove herself to the Jedi and take her final trials.

As a final test, Darsha went before the Jedi Council and was given a mission where she would be required to descend to the lower levels of Coruscant and escort a former Black Sun member back to the Jedi Temple. With one last offer of good luck, Anoon watched his Padawan leave and hoped for the best for her. Unfortunately, Darsha ran into more trouble than she could handle. The district she was required to go to was known for its ferociousness and its prowling of street gangs. Once Darsha had met with the Black Sun member, the two were attacked by one such street gang, and in the ensuing events the Black Sun affiliate was lost and Darsha's transportation destroyed.

Unsure of what to do, but knowing that escape was obvious, Darsha made her way up through the under-levels back to the Jedi Temple where she sought out Anoon. Anoon listened as Darsha told him the situation, and out of his desire to see his Padawan succeed, Anoon agreed to return with her to assess the situation. Returning to the site of the conflict, Anoon and Darsha confirm that the Black Sun member had indeed died. The Jedi Master and his student planned to return to the Jedi Temple and inform the Council of the situation.
